SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2019-20

SSC CGL Exam Pattern: Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGL) details and Scheme of Examination are given below….

Examination Pattern: The Examination will be conducted in three tiers as indicated below:
Tier -I: Written Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type)
Tier -II: Written Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type)
Tier-III: Computer Proficiency Test/ Skill Test (wherever applicable)/ Document Verification.

The scheme of examination for various posts will be as follows:

Posts under Pay Band-II Rs. 9300 – 34800 other than Statistical Investigator Grade-II.

Tier I Examination -
A. General Intelligence
Reasoning – 50 marks
B. Gen.Awareness – 50marks
C. Quantitative Aptitude – 50 marks
D. English Comprehension – 50 marks
Total Marks – 200
Duration: 02 hours VH and candidates suffering from Cerebral Palsy: 2 hours 40 minutes

Tier-II Examination-
 I. Quantitative Abilities: 200 marks (100 Questions)
Duration: 2 hours for VH and candidates suffering from Cerebral Palsy: 2hours 40 minutes were eligible.
II. English Language & Comprehension: 200 marks (200 questions).
Duration: 2 hours

For VH and candidates suffering from Cerebral Palsy: 2 hours 40 minutes wherever eligible.

Total Marks: 400

Proficiency/Skill Test-
Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) for the post of Assistant Section Officer in CSS only

Total mark: 600

Note-I: There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Tier-I.
In Tier-II, there will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks in Paper-II and 0.50 marks in Paper-I and Paper-III for each wrong answer.

Combined Graduate Level (Tier-I) Examination: Tier –I of the Combined Graduate Level Examination will be common for all categories of posts.

Questions will be of Objective Type Multiple Choice, set both in Hindi and English in respect of Parts A, B, and C.

2. Combined Graduate Level (Tier-II) Examination: Tier-II of the Combined Graduate Level Examination will be of Objective Type Multiple Choice and will be conducted over a period of two days.

The exam will be conducted online comprising of 4 sections with about 100 questions in each section and with maximum marks of 200.

The sections asked in SSC CGL Tier-I Exam are:

1) Quantitative Ability
2) Statistics
3) General Studies (Finance & Economics)
4) English Language & Comprehension

SSC CGL Tier-3 Exam Pattern
Tier-3 of SSC CGL will be a descriptive test. The paper will be in English/Hindi and will constitute of 100 marks. The entire paper needs to be completed in 60 minutes.

Subject: Descriptive Paper in English/Hindi (Writing of Essay, Precis, Letter, Application etc.)
Marks: 100 marks
Time:  1 hour or 60 minutes

SSC CGL Tier-4 Exam Pattern
SSC CGL Tier-4 Exam is a Computer Skill Test. It will be conducted in two steps: DEST Test & CPT Test.

DEST: Candidates are required to type 2000 words in 15 minutes on a computer in English. This test is conducted to check a candidate's writing skills.
